Mercy Hospital was known for its excellence, but things had changed.  For the past 27 years, staff had constantly changed, budget was lowered, there was never enough of anything to get the job done right, and seemingly bizarre things had transpired. 

Dr. Tom Wood did a very simple surgery, which he had done a thousand times before, but the patient just died at the middle of the procedure.  Dr. Fred Winston, an arrogant anesthesiologist whose drug addiction had gotten more serious, had just committed “suicide”.  Ronnie Clark, the helpful G.I. Lab Manager, seemed to undergo a personality transplant that his director had to fire him.  Constance, the vice-president of patient services, had been facing compliance problems that she had to hire an effective administrator to help her run the hospital.  Naomi, with her professional experience, is the perfect one for this job.  But with Luisa, a seemingly perfect nurse who had secrets of her own, lurking covertly around the hospital, Naomi may have regretted her decision in joining Mercy Hospital.
